‘We don’t like loans’: Luton boss hints at trying to sign Tottenham’s Cameron Carter-Vickers in permanent deal

Luton Town manager Nathan Jones has hinted he will try to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis, Luton Today report.

The versatile defender spent last season on loan with the Hatters.

Carter-Vickers played a key role as Luton amazingly avoided the drop to League one after an excellent late-season run of form in the Championship.

Asked whether he would like to add the Spurs man again on loan, Jones said he won’t rule out going for him and suggested he would be eyeing a permanent deal.

“I might not rule out going back in for Cameron. But what we don’t like doing is loans, so you can work your own way out from that. We prefer our own players as when we add value to players which we believe we do add value, we would like that value to be ours, that’s what we do,” the Luton boss explained.

Carter-Vickers has an 11-year affiliation with Spurs after joining as a youth talent.

But with limited playing time in North London coupled with numerous loan deal away from the club, the United States international could be ready for a permanent switch.

Carter-Vickers’ contract at Spurs expires in 2021. While Tottenham can’t expect to make much from a sale, they would be wise to cash in on him now.

As for Carter-Vickers, he was regarded as an important player for Luton and geographically, a permanent switch to the Hatters would be an easy transition.
