Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was critical of Denmark on Instagram for not showing enough fight after they were knocked out of the group stages of the Qatar World Cup.
Ten days after Denmark’s surprise exit, Hojbjerg stated that Denmark need to ‘punch harder’ if they are to compete with the heavyweights of the World Cup.
The Danes were in the same group as Australia, Tunisia and France, and whilst the world champions were expected to progress with ease, which they did, the European nation were the ones then backed to follow suit.

Even before a ball was kicked in the Middle East, there were some backing Hojbjerg and his players to be potential dark horses for the tournament.
But it wasn’t meant to be, with Australia beating them during their final group game, progressing themselves and knocking out Denmark, with Hojbjerg posting this message on Saturday.
“A FIFA World Cup that didn’t go as expected,” said Hojbjerg. “It is a great wake-up call for us, to be reminded that we can only compete with the biggest and largest nations if we push and perform to our limits as a group.
“We didn’t manage to do it this time. So we can only learn, grow and punch back harder than ever to make sure we reach our full potential and make the country proud. We will be back.”
PREMIER LEAGUE RETURN
Well, since Hojbjerg left the World Cup early, a few of his teammates have joined him, including Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.
The latter will be hurting most because his penalty miss on Saturday resulted in England getting booted out by France 2-1 after 90 minutes.
It’s the history of Tottenham of England and penalties, even without shootouts, they are haunting the nation.
Either way, it’s back to the Premier League for Spurs, who return to action by making the short trip across London to face Brentford on Boxing Day.
