West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has said on Twitter that the club out-bid other interested parties in signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United.
The Hammers signed Lingard on loan from Premier League rivals United in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, will stay at London Stadium until the end of the season.
A West Ham fan has said on Twitter the Hammers quibbled at the loan fee, and Gold has responded to him by telling him what exactly how the London club could make the signing.
Lingard has proved to be a superb signing for West Ham and has already established himself as an important player in manager David Moyes’s team.

The 28-year-old has scored four goals and provided one assist in six Premier League games for the Hammers, according to WhoScored.
The Hammers are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table his season.
Lingard’s arrival has given a boost to the Hammers’ quest to play in the Champions League next season, and the fans will hope that the England international continues to do well.
