Andros Townsend has urged Leicester City to keep faith in Brendan Rodgers by sharing how people wrote off Arsenal last season and now they are flying, as the Everton winger told talkSPORT.
Leicester are sitting bottom of the Premier League table with just one point to their name and Townsend thinks the Foxes are in a ‘false’ position.
Last time out, Rodgers watched his six concede six goals at Tottenham, when Son Heung-min came off the bench to score a stunning hat-trick.

The mood around the King Power wasn’t great to start with because, all throughout the summer, it was pretty clear the team wasn’t going to spend much.
And, on top of that, they lost key figures from the dressing room, including Kasper Schmeichel to Nice and Wesley Fofana to Chelsea.
Nonetheless, Townsend highlighted how Everton were in a similar position to Leicester last season and he thinks Rodgers shouldn’t be sacked.
“It has been difficult for them,” said Townsend. “They are in a similar position to what we were at Everton last season, in terms of hamstrung by financial fair play and not being able to sign players. You had the Fofana situation which didn’t get resolved until the last few days of the window, adding to a difficult start to the season and the top teams they have had to play.
“I hope the owners see beyond the media nonsense of ‘sack Rodgers’ and put all of these situations into consideration and give him the relevant time to get Leicester out of the situation they are in.
“It’s a false position. We are only six or seven games in. They have played the top sides. The month of October is the one where they will say ‘we can win those’, then I think you will see them in a normal position, I have no doubt about it.
“We have a problem in this country. We write teams off far too early. We did it last season with Arsenal when they lost their last three games. We did it with Manchester United this season and now they are flying high, so I don’t think you should write off this Leicester team at this stage.”
TIME FOR RODGERS TO MOVE ON
Rodgers made the bold call to swap the comfort zone of Celtic, where he was utterly dominating, to then joining a team in the Premier League.
Whilst some will question his inability to push teams over the line, the 49-year-old still overachieved, including several European finishes and the club’s first-ever FA Cup win.
That probably puts enough credit in Rodgers’s bank, but it just seems to have gone stale and it’s probably best, for both parties, if he moved on.
The last time Leicester played at home was at the start of September when they were beaten by Manchester United, and if the same happens against Nottingham Forest after the international break, then it wouldn’t be a surprise if the home fans make their feelings pretty clear towards the manager.
