Fernando Torres has been singing the praises of Liverpool sensation Mohamed Salah.
The Reds’ attacker is on course for his best-ever season in football.
So far, Salah has netted 15 goals in 14 games across all competitions – and we aren’t even close to being halfway through the campaign as of yet.
Liverpool have an absolute diamond here and Torres – who knew the player from their time at Chelsea – cannot say enough good things about him.
The former Anfield hero told LFC TV: “You can see he breaks all the records and keeps scoring goals.
“We chat sometimes and I’m really happy for him because I saw him when he came to England – it was difficult at the beginning but he is a great guy and a great player and he is showing the world.
“I’m so happy to see him at the top of the world right now, scoring for fun and being one of the most important players in the world in the last few years.”
Advice
Torres was once Liverpool’s version of Salah.
The Spaniard wasn’t quite as prolific but, in terms of importance, nobody can deny that he was just as vital for Rafael Benitez as the Egyptian star is for Klopp.
He wound up tarnishing his legacy by joining Chelsea in a £50 million deal in the winter of 2011.
The good news for Liverpool regarding Salah is, he’s already pretty much at the top.
Well, there’s no upwards move in English football for the 29-year-old and only a couple of clubs on the continent who could realistically sign him.
But no other fanbase will love him like the Liverpool supporters and although there’s a bit of uncertainty regarding his future, with Salah’s contract up in 2023, staying on Merseyside is the right move.
And if Torres does really speak to him every now and again, he ought to stress that point.
