Paul Pogba has admitted to Sky Sports that he cannot say that Manchester United are on the same level as Liverpool yet.

Liverpool have been overtaken by United at the top of the Premier League table, ahead of Sunday’s clash at Anfield.

But Pogba still feels that Liverpool are ahead of his side right now, due to their title success last season.

And when asked whether United are on the same level as Liverpool’s squad now, he said: “We have improved a lot, we are improving. We still have a very young team. But we can’t say now that we are at the same level because they won the Premier League, and have been winning a lot.

“The day we win then I will say yes, we are at the same level. But now we are still far.

“We know how difficult it will be.”

If United can beat Liverpool on Sunday then they will move six points clear of Jurgen Klopp’s side.

But Pogba went on to give further praise to Liverpool for the quality they have shown in recent years.

“To be the best you have to beat the best,” he added.

“You want to progress and get better and better. We know how good they’ve been playing the last few years Liverpool, we know their quality and how they play.”

For all of Liverpool’s success in the past three years they have rarely looked more vulnerable than at this current stage.

The Reds have not looked at their flowing best going forward, and they have also shown weakness at the back, after so many injuries.

A win at the weekend would ease concerns that are forming around Merseyside and lift Liverpool back to the top of the table though, as they look to protect their Premier League title.
