Roy Keane told Super Sunday on Sky Sports that ‘we cannot believe everything’ the media are writing about Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

The Athletic recently reported that Kane will ask to leave Tottenham in the summer if they fail to secure Champions League football.

Following Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United, the signs are pretty clear that they are heading in the opposite direction to Kane’s wishes.

And when Keane was asked to share his thoughts on those rumours about Kane, he issued this pretty blunt response.

“Obviously, we cannot believe everything we hear even from the media that he actually said that,” said Keane.

“But I think it’s only natural for us to speculate about Kane. If they don’t get in the Champions League then he must be getting frustrated.

“He’s a huge player for Spurs. Brilliant professional. And a fantastic player.

“If they don’t get in the Champions League and they aren’t competing at the top level of the league then it’s only natural for Harry Kane, from a selfish point of view, to have a look at his options.

“And he will have great options out there because he is a world-class striker and there aren’t many out there.”

Kane is the Ferrari engine of Tottenham which is fitted in a car purchased from the local garage.

Whilst the Englishman is producing his best season to date, the rest of his teammates, apart from a select few, are producing abject performance after abject performance.

Tottenham’s inability to hold onto a lead and make themselves talk in the second half should also be a worry for the fans.
