Jordan Henderson has sounded a warning to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United by stating that Liverpool can still secure a Champions League finish this season.
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham currently sit in that final fourth spot, but after they watched Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool destroy Manchester United 7-0 on Sunday, then they are surely looking over their shoulder.
It could even be argued that the momentum is now with those on Merseyside because, at the wrong time, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are going through their worst patch of the season.

It’s not helped by the fact that they recently lost the League Cup final, which would deflate the mood in the camp, but they have also suffered back-to-back defeats in the league, including against the Reds.
Nonetheless, after Liverpool produced one of the craziest scorelines and performances in English football history when they humiliated their rivals, it has surely given the club a huge boost.
And Henderson, in their fight to secure a top-four finish in May, is certainly thinking in a positive fashion, as he told Premier League Productions.
“It’s really important, yes this season has been disappointing, at times and we haven’t performed to the level we are capable of, for different reasons,” said Henderson.
“But I think we showed against Manchester United that we can still perform as a team. We have had a few big players that have come back over the last few weeks. Keeping the energy levels and performance levels high right until the end of the season.
“If we do that, then we have a good chance to secure Champions League football and, yes, it’s big to try and get into that top four for next season.”

LIVERPOOL ON THE CHARGE
Given the fact that Liverpool are the ones chasing, then the likes of Spurs will have a serious mental test on their hands because this group of players are capable of going on crazy runs.
The Reds are three points behind Spurs, with a game in hand and a better goal difference.
What also doesn’t help matters for those at Hotspur Way is that they have to visit Anfield.
In that regard, all of this is in the hands of Liverpool because, win their game in hand, see off Spurs at Anfield and then continue to churn out the results and then they might have made something out of a season that looked like it was heading down a disastrous road.
