Speaking on The Big Interview with Graham Hunter, David Moyes has been discussing West Ham’s transfer business in January.

The London club were in a great position to secure a top six finish heading into the January transfer window, but sadly, they couldn’t get any deals over the line in the winter window.

However, it wasn’t for the lack of trying.

Indeed, Moyes says that the club made some ‘really big’ bids for some top players back in January, but sadly, none of those moves came off.

What’s been said?

Moyes claimed that West Ham made some hefty bids in January.

“We bid really big for top players. I get annoyed when people quite often blame the board and say they they didn’t buy anyone. Let me tell you, they did, they tried to buy some really good players, what I’m trying to do is to buy really good players to help us become a top six team,” Moyes said.

Made up for it

West Ham may have failed to bolster their squad in January for the second-half of last season, but they’ve more than made up for it since.

Indeed, the Hammers have been splashing the cash this summer, and their new additions look absolutely excellent.

Gianluca Scamacca looks like an absolute handful, Nayef Aguerd has arrived for big money, while Maxwel Cornet showed us all exactly what he’s capable of in the Premier League last season.

The Hammers missed out on their top six dream last season, but with these new additions, they look ready to make another charge for the European spots this term.

As long as Moyes is backed in the transfer market, West Ham will be in and around the top six.
