Troy Deeney has told talkSPORT Breakfast that Jose Mourinho’s ‘complimentary’ comments on Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli isn’t being talked about.
The former striker was proving the point that negative comments are always going to ‘go higher’ than positive comments and when the Tottenham boss says something negative than ‘we jump on it’.
Even though it was against a non-league side in Marine, Alli was in fine form for Spurs on Sunday as they progressed to the next round of the FA Cup.
“Jose was very complimentary of Dele [on Sunday], but we don’t highlight it,” said Deeney.
“When he is negative we jump on it because it’s Jose and he gets more media coverage. But he was very complimentary to Dele and said that he sparked Spurs into life yesterday.
“So, we are not reporting that. Negativity is always going to go higher than positivity, unfortunately.”

Mourinho has been pretty forthright with his players since he became Tottenham boss and his actions are paying off.
He has got the best out of Tanguy Ndombele and slowly but surely, Alli is also working his way back up.
That all-round mindset which Mourinho has brought to Spurs is seemingly pushing them closer to a trophy and they can add one to their cabinet if they beat Manchester City in the League Cup final.
