Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to Fabrizio Romano claiming that the club will not buy Ozan Kabak this summer.
The 21-year-old moved to Liverpool in January, initially on a loan deal, with an option to buy, but those on Merseyside won’t be putting money down on the table for his services.
Instead, they will be looking to bring in RB Leipzig’s rising star, Ibrahima Konate, as Liverpool look to amend their mistakes from last season.
Given that Kabak helped secure Champions League football for Liverpool given where they were when he first arrived, it has left some fans disappointed that he won’t stay on.
Whether it was Kabak or Konate, Liverpool needed to make sure that they didn’t enter the new Premier League season light in options after that back after an injury-hit season for their defenders.
And whilst Konate has a higher profile than Kabak, the Liverpool supporters would have loved to see the latter stay on given that they built a strong relationship with him during these last few months.
But Jurgen Klopp has to make the right calls for Liverpool and it seems as though their defensive line is once again building up.
Come next season, Klopp will be hoping to have Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Konata, Nat Phillips, Joel Matip, Rhys Williams and Ben Davies to choose from.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if both Williams and Davies are loaned out, whilst Matip may be pushed down the order given his injury worries since he joined the club.
