West Ham United have reacted to rumours that Nathan Ake is open to joining them in January.
There’s not long left until the winter transfer re-opens and names are already being thrown about.
Newcastle are a club that might steal the headlines next month because of their big-money owners and they seem to be fishing in the same pond as the Hammers.
But Eurosport have claimed that Ake, who is wanted by both clubs, is keen on moving to London rather than the North East.
This delights the West Ham fans and they don’t think it’s difficult picking a team in Europe over one battling Premier League relegation.
There is one advantage the Magpies hold over West Ham and that’s the fact that Eddie Howe has worked with Ake before.
Will that play a part in him heading in their direction if Manchester City allow him to leave?
Either way, West Ham fans are pretty confident that they can snap him up and they would welcome him to their shores.
David Moyes needs more depth during their European run, especially with Angelo Ogbonna’s long-term injury.
So, it’s obvious that’s one area they will aim for and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Ake is wearing the Claret and Blue colours pretty soon.
