Gabby Agbonlahor has stated on Twitter that Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are ‘massive’ after they secured the transfer of Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen.
Despite Saudi Arabia trying to disrupt Aston Villa’s plans to sign the French winger, he opted against the big-money and decided to join Emery’s ever-progressing squad in the Premier League.
Former Villa striker Agbonlahor posted a series of messages on Twitter about Moussa Diaby’s capture. From ‘Second City power’ to how ‘exciting’ it is supporting the club, at this moment.
It is a big coup from the Midlands giants and it signals their intent to not just sit on their seventh-placed finish from last season.
The aim is to go again and push further up, possibly for a Champions League finish, although, if it isn’t met, just maintaining Europe would still be seen as progression.
Of course, that doesn’t just need to come via the Premier League. Villa will be one of the favourites to win the Europa Conference League, as Agbonlahor was delighted with the Diaby deal.

“Being an Aston Villa fan is so exciting at the moment,” said Agbonlahor. “Top 7 is a minimum for me this season and let’s win a trophy!! We stop players going to Saudi!! Our local rivals lose their players to Saudi
Diaby’s arrival will bring out the best in Leon Bailey
Villa’s tricky winger has had a mixed time of it since he joined the club from Leverkusen. Injuries haven’t helped, nor did that reign of Steven Gerrard.
Bailey has looked better under Emery, but with Diaby now through the doors, he will push the Jamaican to perform at a higher standard because if he doesn’t, then it’s far easier to now drop him to the bench.
But, on that counter-attack next season, if you add in the likes of Ollie Watkins, Jacob Ramsey and Alex Moreno, then Villa are going to be utterly lethal.
