Martin Keown has stated that when Leeds United aren’t winning, then all you are hearing from Jesse Marsch is ‘codswallop’ and ‘propaganda’, as he told Match of the Day 2 on BBC One.

The former Premier League defender added that he ‘doesn’t see any game management’ from Marsch and Leeds aren’t going in the right direction given that they have won two Premier League games from their last 16.

On Sunday, the Whites were held to a goalless draw to Thomas Frank’s Brentford, and whilst they recorded a much-needed clean sheet, a goal never seemed to be on the cards.

It has been nearly 12 months since the very popular Marcelo Bielsa was sacked and replaced in the dugout by Marsch.

In terms of last season, he did his job and that’s keeping the club in England’s top-flight. But it’s not going as planned now.

Albeit with a game in hand, the Yorkshire outfit are hovering one point above the relegation zone, as Keown isn’t happy with what he is hearing from the man in the Elland Road dugout.

“I don’t see any game management,” said Keown. “I don’t see any control. I think the manager has got good characteristics.

“But when you don’t win games, it’s like codswallop, isn’t it?! It’s just baloney. We are just hearing this propaganda. It’s like he is clinging on.

“They need to get results. There is a message, all the interview from the players is the same, there is momentum. We are building. We are moving in the right direction. Two wins in 16 games is not moving in the right direction.”

WILL MARSCH SURVIVE?

The January transfer window is open and Marsch has been backed by those above, including the capture of the club-record signing of Georgino Rutter.

That suggests that Marsch has the backing of those above, but he has had his sticky moments with the fans this season.

Prior to the World Cup, there was a lot of heat aimed at the American, including chants for Marcelo Bielsa after their defeat at Leicester City.

Some could argue that if it wasn’t for the win at Liverpool, then he probably wouldn’t be in a job now, so it begs the question, if Leeds lose to Nottingham Forest for their next league game, then does Marsch survive?!
