Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Faisal has told The Times that Saudi Arabia’s Pubic Investment Fund (PIF) will focus on Newcastle United, adding that his government will encourage bids for Manchester United from the country’s private sector.
Saudi Arabia’s sports minister has said that Manchester United would be a good opportunity for any investor, but he has made it clear that PIF will continue to focus on Newcastle.
Newcastle are owned by a consortium of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), PCP Capital Partners, and the Reuben Brothers.
The takeover was completed in October 2021.
Earlier this week, Manchester United announced that they are open to a sale.
Plan on Newcastle United, Manchester United and PIF
Prince Abdulaziz said: “The PIF just invested in Newcastle and I think we are focusing as a PIF on that. If there is a private investor that wants to come in, why not?
“I think it is a good opportunity and if the numbers add up and we can all benefit from that from a business perspective, why not. If there really is an opportunity that benefits us I would encourage the private sector to do so.”

Competitive
Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, but in recent years, they have struggled to maintain their high levels.
The Red Devils are not even in the UEFA Champions League places this season.
Newcastle are above Manchester United in the Premier League table at the moment and could finish in the top four.
The Red Devils do need investment, and the fans will hope that the prospective new owners will be able to get the club back to their glory days.
