Some Tottenham fans have been reacting after The Times reported that they’re in talks with Jannik Vestergaard, and it’s fair to say they’re not happy.
Tottenham have been linked with a number of exciting centre-backs this summer such as Jules Kounde and Takehiro Tomiyasu, but now it seems as though Vestergaard could be the one they go for.
Now, the Dane isn’t a bad footballer by any means. After all, he’s a fully-fledged international who’s about to play in a semi-final at Euro 2020, but the reality is that he’s not what Spurs need.
The London club are desperate for an injection of pace in their backline, and with all due respect to the Southampton defender, he wouldn’t provide that.
Spurs fans aren’t keen to see him join the club, and to be honest, we can understand why.
However, fans don’t decide the club’s transfer policy, and it seems as though Tottenham could push forward with this one after starting talks.
