Trent Alexander-Arnold says that he noticed just how good Diogo Jota was when he was playing against Liverpool.

Speaking the club’s official website, Alexander-Arnold revealed that he has been very impressed by Jota’s start at Anfield.

But the full-back is not surprised that Jota has looked so good in his initial time at Liverpool, as he was always a tricky opponent to come up against.

“He’s slotted right in on the pitch and off the pitch. He works well with us, works well for us – I think we all noticed that when we played against him in the last few seasons at Wolves and how good a player he is,” Alexander-Arnold said.

“So to have him on our team now is something we’re happy with. Like you said, he’s hit the ground running and hopefully there’ll be many more goals and a lot more success with him in the team.”

Jota continued his excellent start to life with Liverpool in midweek, when he bagged against Midtjylland in the Champions League.

That takes the Portuguese’s total to three goals in his first eight appearances across all competitions for the Reds.

Jota is now pushing hard to take a place in Liverpool’s regular starting line-up, and may well feature from the off against West Ham United at the weekend.
