Mikel Arteta has admitted to Football London that he is now becoming seriously worried about Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s form in front of goal.

Aubameyang has scored just two Premier League goals in 10 appearances this term, and his performance in a 2-1 defeat to Wolves yesterday was well below par.

The rapid forward seemed to lack the same intensity and confidence to his play that he has shown throughout his time as an Arsenal player.

And when asked if he was worried about Aubameyang’s goalscoring drought, Arteta admitted that his concerns were rising.

“Well I think we all are because the main goalscorer of the club at the moment is not scoring goals,” he said.

“My biggest concern is how to help him to score more goals because we need his goals.

“How important Auba has been for this club in the last two years, and how the goal sheet has been shared amongst the squad tells you the importance of him scoring goals if we want to be successful.”

Arsenal handed Aubameyang a big contract in the summer to tie him down, but he has yet to repay their faith.

Despite previously being prolific, the 31-year-old is currently suffering with his worst run of goalscoring form in an Arsenal shirt.

With the Gunners currently stuck in 14th place in the Premier League table, Arsenal will now be looking to Aubameyang to fire them up the table.

Without Aubameyang on song it is difficult to see how Arsenal improve too much, as he carries so much of their goalscoring responsibility.
