Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez said that an agreement is in place to keep Leeds United loanee Rafa Mujica until 2022, in quotes reported by Canarias Cope.
Speaking earlier this week, a striker snapped up from Barcelona B two years ago admitted that he was none the wiser about what the future holds for him at Elland Road (Tinta Amarilla).
Mujica is out of contract next year and has not made a single first-team appearance under Marcelo Bielsa.
But the 22-year-old can sleep a little easier tonight, safe in the knowledge that he will have a home until the end of next season.
Mujica has been a big hit since joining boyhood club Las Palmas on loan in the January transfer window. And, according to Ramirez, the 6ft 1ins striker is certainly on the right track if he wants to extend his stay in the Canary Islands.
“Mujica has an agreement in which Las Palmas can extend the contract beyond June 30th (until the summer of 2022). If his performance continues as it has been up to now, we all agree that he should continue here,” the president said, via La Provincia.
Mujica opened his account for the Segunda outfit in the recent 3-1 defeat to big-spending Almeria and started alongside former PSV, Real Madrid and Stoke City forward Jese Rodriguez last weekend.
