The Baggies captain is hoping to help The Hawthorns side achieve promotion from the Championship back to the Premier League.
A number of West Bromwich Albion fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on Chris Brunt’s comments about the upcoming season, as well as what the club means to him (official West Brom website).
The Baggies captain arrived at The Hawthorns in the summer of 2017 and has made 410 appearances for the club, making him the longest-serving player at The Hawthorns since Ally Robertson left in 1986.
Brunt is now preparing for his 13th season with Albion, and following Slaven Bilic’s appointment, it means he is now set to turn out under his tenth boss at the club, with promotion to the Premier League the goal for the campaign.
Last season, West Brom made the playoffs and took Aston Villa all the way to penalties in their semi-final second leg, a game in which Brunt was sent off for two bookable offences, and the veteran spoke of how he wants to put things right in 2019-20.
“As a team and as a squad you want to be at your best. You’ve got to be at your best personally and you want the team to be doing its best,” he told the official Albion website. “This football club means a lot to me, I’ve spent a lot of my lifetime here, not just a lot of my career. I want this football club to do really well. Us doing well means getting back to the Premier League and making it better for everyone around the club.
“The back of last season, getting sent off in the playoff game, was really disappointing. We’ve had a few good weeks to look back on it now. The second leg especially, as a team and as a football club, the atmosphere around the place was great to be involved in. It’s gutting that things didn’t go our way that night and we’re not looking forward to a Premier League season. From my point of view I want to put that right and do whatever it takes to get us back in the Premier League.”
