The Baggies defender is on the mend following surgery in the off season and happy to be back in training.

West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi has spoken about his progress from an ankle injury for which he went under the knife in the summer following international duty with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The 28-year-old played 49 games for club and country last season but an ongoing ankle issue that was “managed” throughout 2018-19 required surgery, West Brom head of sports science & medicine Andrew Leaver told the website in July.
Hegazi was set a provisional return date of September, following the international break, and it all seems to have gone to plan so far, with the Egyptian now back in training and set to work his way back to fitness, though he admits there is no more concrete return date as of yet.
However, the Egyptian ace has also said he is ahead of schedule, and with the team currently doing well in the Championship, he urged his teammates to keep the momentum going and continue their solid run in the league.
“I’m feeling all good,” Hegazi is quoted by the WBA website as saying. “I’m very happy to be back in training and the ankle is feeling fine. There is no date for a return to playing yet but we will see how I progress from here.

“I have come back a little bit quicker than was expected which is good for me. The team is doing well and we just need to keep this momentum going.”
The update straight from the player came as music to the ears of numerous Baggies fans, some of whom replied upon reading the news on Albion’s social media channel:
Hegazi moved to West Brom initially on loan from Egyptian club El Ahly Cairo in the summer of 2017 and then completed a permanent move to The Hawthorns in January 2018 for a reported £4.5million (Transfermarkt), going on to make 85 appearances thus far.
