The West Brom loanee impressed for the Baggies U23s at The Hawthorns on Friday.

A number of West Bromwich Albion fans have praised Chris Willock for his superb display as the Baggies Under-23s hammered Sunderland 6-0 at The Hawthorns in the Premier League 2 Division 2 on Friday.
The 21-year-old, a summer signing on loan from Benfica (official West Brom website), bagged a first-half brace in between Jamie Soule’s early opener and Rayhaan Tulloch’s goal just after the half-hour mark.
West Brom were rampant against the Black Cats at The Hawthorns as Finn Azaz got himself on the scoresheet shortly after the restart before Soule rounded off the scoring with his second just before the hour mark.
Albion’s Twitter account kept the Baggies fanbase aware of proceedings in the game and one of Willock’s goals, assisted superbly by Jack Fitzwater, got a fair bit of reaction on social media:
A versatile attacker who can play as a second striker or a winger, Willock – formerly a starlet at the Arsenal academy – joined West Brom with his deal having the option to be reviewed in January by both the Baggies and Benfica.
“We’ve got a very good deal to bring him here for the season and Chris is excited at the opportunity,” Luke Dowling told the official Albion website after Willock’s arrival at The Hawthorns.
“He’s been looking to get back over here and Slaven enjoys working with and developing youngsters. It will be a brilliant shop window for him. He’s an exciting forward player with the capacity to work in the wide or central areas.”
