Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney’s passing against Hull was his most efficient in four seasons.

Manchester United are back on form, winning their third successive game at the weekend with a 3-0 victory against Hull.

A key cog in their performance was captain Wayne Rooney, whose form has picked up since returning from a three game suspension.

Against Hull, Rooney delivered the most efficient passing game he has across the last four seasons in any Premier League game in which he has played 60 minutes or more.

Rooney completed 95 per cent of his passes, a real positive for a player who last season was averaging a 80 per cent accuracy rate.

Intriguingly, three of Rooney’s top seven passing games have come in the 10 games he has played under Louis van Gaal, registering 91 per cent in the previous home match against Crystal Palace.

Rooney is a player whose first touch can often be poor when he is not on his game, and his tendency to try and look for a spectacular pass can lower his statistics in areas of efficiency like this.
