Wayne Rooney has given Manchester United manager Michael Carrick a heads-up about one Arsenal player who stood out to him during the Gunners’ recent Champions League fixture.
With the trip to Old Trafford coming up on Sunday, Arsenal were in Milan on Tuesday, where they put in an impressive performance at the San Siro. They came away with a 3-1 win over Inter Milan, a result that gave their European campaign another boost.
Gabriel Jesus netted two first-half goals before former United target Viktor Gyokeres added another after the break. It was the kind of display that continues to raise questions about whether Arteta’s side are genuine title contenders this season.
Currently top of Group A, Arsenal have a six-point lead over both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich after seven matches.

Arsenal have opened up a slightly bigger gap at the top of the Premier League after their goalless draw with Nottingham Forest, helped by other results going their way.
Mikel Arteta’s side took advantage of Manchester United’s 2-0 win over second-place Manchester City at Old Trafford to strengthen their hold on first place.
Looking ahead to the match between Arsenal and United, Wayne Rooney pointed out that Gabriel Jesus could cause problems for Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez.
Rooney said: “I think with Harry Maguire and Martinez, his [Jesus] anticipation and his little movement inside the penalty box.”

Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez looked solid together in the centre of defence during United’s 2-0 win over Manchester City, while Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu both found the net in the second half. It marked Carrick’s first victory as interim manager this season.
Speaking on Prime Video, Wayne Rooney suggested that Gabriel Jesus should make a strong case to Mikel Arteta for a starting spot against United.
“I think if I was Gabriel Jesus now, I’d be there saying I want to start the game on Sunday,” he said.
“I’ve put myself in a position where he’s come here, he scored two goals, he played really well tonight.
“So, if I was him, I’d be putting it in the manager’s mind that I really want to play.”
