Bill Kenwright reportedly wants Eddie Howe to be Everton’s next manager.

Eddie Howe, manager of Bournemouth applauds the fans after the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth at Selhurst Park on December 9, 2017 in London, England.

According to goal.com, Eddie Howe is Bill Kenwright’s first choice to be Everton’s next manager and that would be great news for Wayne Rooney.

Rooney’s future has become the subject of some speculation in recent times, with his form since Sam Allardyce took charge failing to impress.

Rooney is yet to score in 2018, and Allardyce has admitted that as many as 13 players could leave Everton this summer.

Whether the £10 million signing from Manchester United could be one of them remains to be seen, but if Howe is put in charge then he should be delighted.

Allardyce’s future at Goodison Park is still undecided, with large sections of Everton support calling for him to depart.

And if Howe does come in at Goodison Park it could be great news for Rooney, judging by what the Bournemouth boss told ClubCall last year.

He said: “I think he’s an outstanding player, I’ve always been one of his biggest fans.

“Historically, from Manchester United to England, there’s no doubt he’s been one of the best goalscorers of his generation.

“We are aware that he will be a real threat technically, he’ll make them play but also he’s lost none of his finishing ability.”

If Howe does take over, it seems a strong possibility that he will want to work with Rooney at Goodison Park.

And although Rooney has given his backing to Allardyce this week, Kenwright getting his wish and Howe becoming Everton manager next season could be the best option for him.
