Toffees fans are hoping he can rediscover his best form, and Rooney has the enthusiasm to succeed.
The striker sent a message to fans this morning on Twitter expressing how excited he is to be back as an Everton player.
Rooney left Everton in 2004 after a sensational European Championships, joining Manchester United.
He went on to become the record goalscorer at Old Trafford and also broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s England record.

Last season was a disappointing one for Rooney, losing his place in the first team and only scoring three Premier League goals from open play.
Moving back to his former club has Rooney excited like he is a kid all over again, and if he can re-capture the vibrant form he showed as a teenager there will still be time for him to re-write his name in the Everton history books as a club legend.
Already he seems determined to make up for ‘lost time’.
