Wayne Rooney is hoping for good times ahead at Everton.
New Toffees signing Wayne Rooney explained to reporters how now is an exciting time to be an Everton player, what with plans for the club’s new £300 million stadium in the pipeline, as quoted by BBC Sport.
The 31-year-old boyhood Blues fan completed his switch back to Goodison Park yesterday, as Romelu Lukaku made the move in the opposite direction.
Despite Rooney’s obvious decline in form over the past two years, his signing will surely still be viewed as somewhat of a coup for the Merseyside outfit, and if Ronald Koeman can coax the best out of him, it could actually turn out to look like a masterstroke from the Dutchman.

For now though, Rooney is just happy to be back home, and discussed Everton’s exciting future, when speaking to BBC Sport:
“With the new stadium in the pipeline, it’s an exciting time to be an Everton player, to be an Everton fan. It’s on us players to make those times even more exciting by giving them good performances and try to help them be successful and bring trophies to the club. I firmly believe we have the potential to be a success in the league and there are the cup competitions. We’re certainly capable of winning one of those cups.”
The Toffees have recently agreed a deal to acquire land in Liverpool on which they hope to build their new 50,000 seater arena, which would constitute quite a substantial upgrade upon their current 40,000 capacity stadium.
Whether Rooney will be around at Everton, in any kind of capacity, when they move into their new home though, remains to be seen.
