Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney has been quoted by the Daily Mail as saying that he has offers on the table both in England and abroad – but Everton are the only Premier League club he would join.

Rooney, 31, picked up a Europa League winners medal on Wednesday night after Manchester United beat Ajax 2-0 in Stockholm, but question marks linger over his future.

A 2004 signing from Everton, where he came up through the ranks and became a sensation, Rooney has racked up 253 goals in 559 games for United, becoming the club’s leading goalscorer in history earlier this season.

However, he has had to make do with a reduced role this season, starting just 15 Premier League games, registering five goals and five assists for the Red Devils having struggled to nail down a regular starting role under Jose Mourinho.

Now, with United again looking to spend big this summer – potentially on Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann – Rooney could be expendable, with the attacker facing a decision over his future.

Now, Rooney has told the Daily Mail that he has offers on the table from clubs in England and abroad, but he will take the next few weeks to decide his future with his family.

Rooney added that he would only play for two Premier League clubs – Everton and Manchester United – in what is the biggest indication that he would re-join Everton this summer if approached.

“There’s lots of offers on the table, both in England and abroad, and really that’s what I have to decide on,” said Rooney. “As the manager said before, he wants me to stay, but… I just have to make a decision in terms of a football decision, and that’s what I’ll do. I’ll do that the next few weeks with my family while I’m away.”

“I’ve played for two Premier League clubs and they’re the only two Premier League clubs I’ll play for,” he added.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman did tell Sky Sports in March that he would be open to bringing Rooney back to the club this summer, and today’s comment suggest that Rooney himself is also interested in a return to Goodison Park, almost 13 years after his departure.
