Wayne Rooney has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7::24pm, April 4, 2022) that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has changed from the player he was three or four years ago.
The former Manchester United and Everton star has noted that Kane was focused only on scoring goals a few years ago, but now the Tottenham and England international striker takes pride in providing assists and creating chances.
Rooney made the comments about the 28-year-old striker while analysing his performance in Tottenham’s win against Newcastle United this past weekend.
Kane did not score, but the Englishman provided an assist and also created chances for his teammates.
Wayne Rooney on Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane
Rooney said about Kane: “He can do both. He has play as a 9, he can play as a 10. He is an incredible player.”
The Derby County manager added: “I think Harry Kane of three, four years ago, all he is thinking about is goals, now he is getting goals and assists.”

Evolved
In our opinion, Kane’s game has evolved, and the Tottenham striker is now a better player.
The striker is still scoring goals, but he is dropping deep and creating chances for his Tottenham teammates as well.
That is an asset and is helping Spurs.
Kane dropping deep also creates confusion among the opposition, as they are not always sure whether a midfielder should go after him or a defender should chase him.
The Tottenham star has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in the Premier League so far this season.
