With ex-Watford manager Marco Silva potentially replacing Sam Allardyce at Everton, could that persuade Richarlison to make the move to Goodison Park?
According to Sky Sports, Everton are close to ending their ties with current manager Sam Allardyce and turning to long-term target Marco Silva.
Silva was managing Watford when the Toffees stepped up their attempts to lure the talented Portuguese manager to the club. The lure of temptation was too much of a distraction for Silva, who ultimately lost his job due to a reported ‘unwarranted approach from a Premier League rival’.
Now a free agent, Silva would be able to finally step into the Everton fold and instantly start working on improving the side going into next season.
One such improvement may be the signing of Watford winger Richarlison, who Silva signed for the Hornets last summer from Brazilian side Fluminense.
The exciting 21-year-old burst onto the Premier League scene, producing five goals and four assists in his first 12 matches as Watford shot up the league table.
However, his form seemed to deteriorate rapidly around Christmas, around the same time Silva was seemingly distracted by Everton.
Richarlison failed to recapture his form as the Hornets slowly fell to a lowly 14th-place finish. His best form was under Silva and a reunion could be ideal for both.
The player himself admitted in March that he would consider an offer at a higher level due to the opportunities that would come with the move, both financial and professional.
With Everton lacking in attacking intent, pace and natural talent, Richarlison would surely only add to the Toffees’ squad.
