Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue would be a brilliant signing for Swansea City.

Swansea City boss Paul Clement needs to make a few signings before the transfer window closes, as he looks to build a squad capable of surviving in the Premier League.

Clement has money burning a hole in his pocket after the Welsh club sold star player Gylfi Sigurdsson for £45 million to Everton.

The 4-0 defeat against Manchester United at home has showed that a defensive minded central midfielder is required.

With this in mind, Swansea City should consider making a move for Watford’s Etienne Capoue, who is facing an uncertain future at the club.

The French midfielder was reportedly involved in a bust-up with new Watford manager Marco Silva after a defeat against Rangers during the pre-season.

The Express last week (printed edition; August 18 – page 60) reported that Watford are set for a clear out and it could spell the end of Capoue at the club.

Swansea has the excellent Sung-Young Ki as the first-choice defensive midfielder, but Capoue would be a superb addition to the squad.

The 29-year-old enjoyed a brilliant 2016/17 campaign with Watford, and would bring depth and quality to Clement’s side.
