The one-time Tottenham Hotspur striker is said to be attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs ahead of a potential January move.

According to a report from the Mirror, Watford are considering signing former Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor on a short-term deal this January, with Sunderland and Bournemouth also being linked.

The 31-year-old was released from his Spurs contract in September and it is now being suggested that the Hornets see him as a viable option to add experience to their front-line.

Watford have Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney and both men have impressed this season, the former in particular, but the more goal-scorers a side has the more chance they have of success and Hornets manager Quique Sanchez Flores will be well aware of that.

Adebayor barely featured for Tottenham as his time their ticked down but he ended his spell at White Hart Lane with 42 goals and 20 assists in 113 appearances.

When fit and on form the Togo international still has much to offer; the question is: Can he get back to his best as early as January?

The Mirror claims Watford are not the only club interested in the player, with Bournemouth seeking a replacement for the injured Callum Wilson and new Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce also looking for goal-scoring options as he attempts to pull the Black Cats up the table.

Another former Tottenham player, Etienne Capoue, has excelled at Watford this season but it remains to be seen if Adebayor will follow that particular path, attempt to be a saviour at Sunderland or move somewhere else entirely.
