West Ham United will welcome Watford to the London Stadium tomorrow.
The Hornets have been dealt a potential blow ahead of their side’s clash with the Hammers tomorrow, following Javi Gracia’s comments regarding Troy Deeney’s fitness problems, as quoted by the Hertfordshire Mercury.
Watford currently sit one place and three points ahead of West Ham in the Premier League table, so tomorrow’s clash at the London Stadium will be a vitally important one for both sides, as they look to create even more space between themselves and the drop zone.
The Hertfordshire outfit’s chances of beating the east Londoners, however, have been dealt a blow today.
Gracia addressed the media during his pre-match press conference, and explained why Deeney is a major doubt for his side’s game against David Moyes’ men, as quoted by the Hertfordshire Mercury:
“We’ll see because he (Deeney) has had an ankle problem and today we’ll see how he feels. I think he’ll be with us, but I don’t know yet.”
The 29-year-old embodies everything that Watford stand for, what with his superb work ethic and unrivalled passion, and despite his lack of goals – he’s scored just three in the league all season, his contribution to how the Hornets play is invaluable.
With this in mind, West Ham will definitely feel more confident in their chances of success against Watford if Deeney is not in the starting line-up.
