Watford have sacked manager Marco Silva this morning.

Watford have today confirmed the sacking of manager Marco Silva – and appear to have taken a shot at Everton in the process.
The Hornets appointed Silva as Walter Mazzarri’s replacement over the summer, and the former Hull City boss made a superb start to life at Vicarage Road with six wins from the first 13 Premier League games.
However, Silva has since won just one of the last 10 games, and after losing 2-0 at Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, Silva has been given his marching orders.

Watford chop and change managers frequently, but many are still stunned by the decision to sack the 40-year-old, who was a hot commodity just two months ago.
Back in November, Everton made approaches to land Silva as their new manager following the sacking of Ronald Koeman, but Watford stood firm despite claims from The Sun of £12million being offered by the Toffees for Silva.
The Portuguese boss now finds himself out of work after a torrid run of form, and Watford have now placed the blame on Everton, who have long since appointed Sam Allardyce as their new boss.
Watford released a statement on their official website earlier today suggesting that it was a ‘difficult decision’ to sack Silva, as they still believe he was the right appointment all along.

However, the Hornets feel that the ‘unwarranted approach’ from a Premier League rival – presumably Everton – has ruined Silva’s time at Vicarage Road, even hinting that his focus has slipped since the Toffees made their move.
“This has been a difficult decision and one not taken lightly,” the statement read. “The Club is convinced the appointment of Silva was the right one and had it not been for the unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival for his services we would have continued to prosper under his leadership.”
“The catalyst for this decision is that unwarranted approach, something which the Board believes has seen a significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford FC has been jeopardised. For the security and success of the football club, the Board believes it has to make a change.”
