Roberto Pereyra has stated that he believes his former club would have been better off facing Liverpool than Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.

Watford midfielder Pereyra was speaking to Tuttosport about his former club’s chances in the Champions League last 16.

Juventus take on Tottenham in the February ties, and Pereyra believes getting drawn against Liverpool would have been preferable.

The midfielder said: “For my former team-mates I would have preferred Liverpool compared to Tottenham, but Juventus is still Juventus.

“The Bianconeri have the strength and the quality to pass the round, but for sure they will not be two simple games.”

Pereyra added his view on the players Juventus must be particularly wary of, discounting obvious star man Harry Kane.

He said: “Mousa Dembelé: he fights like Vidal, but does not score with the ease of Arturo. And watch out for Lamela’s return.”

Both players are not yet at their physical peak for Spurs, with Lamela coming off an injury and Dembele having struggled all season long.

Spurs will hope that by February they are back to their best, and they might just need to be if Spurs are to topple the Italian champions.
