The Watford boss was said to be keen on a move to Everton.

Marco Silva, Manager of Watford looks on prior to the Premier League match between Everton and Watford at Goodison Park on November 5, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Less than two months after they refused to let him join Everton, Watford are lining up Marco Silva’s replacement, according to the Sun [page 53 of Wednesday’s printed edition].

The report claims Silva is on borrowed time at Watford after falling out with the Pozzo family, who own the Hertfordshire side, over Everton’s approach.

Since the first speculation linking Silva with a move to Goodison Park, Watford have lost nine of their 14 Premier League fixtures – sliding from fifth to 10th in the standings, and only six points clear of the relegation places.

According to the Sun, however, Watford are reluctant to sack Silva, who only arrived at Vicarage Road from relegated Hull City in June.

Malaga's coach Jose Miguel Gonzalez Martin del Campo 'Michel' gestures before the Spanish league football match Malaga CF vs FC Barcelona at La Rosaleda stadium in Malaga on April 8, 2017.

Nevertheless, the report adds the Portuguese is unlikely to last beyond the end of the campaign, with Malaga’s Jose Gonzalez identified as a possible replacement.

Gonzalez has worked for the Pozzos before, at sister club Granada, who he saved from relegation in 2016.
