Ben Foster has claimed that Felipe Anderson ‘couldn’t cut it’ in the Premier League with West Ham, as he told his own YouTube channel.
The English goalkeeper has claimed that the 28-year-old, who West Ham sold permanently to Lazio this summer, found life ‘very difficult’ in the Premier League despite being a ‘technically gifted player’.
Anderson initially arrived on East London shores, from the club he has since returned to, for £36 million in 2018 (Sky Sports).
And whilst his first season was encouraging in Claret and Blue colours, it quickly went downhill from there.
Now, he is back in Italy hoping to pick up a career that still has plenty of miles left in the tank.
Foster would have come up against Anderson in the Brazilian’s debut campaign in England and this is what he had to say about the player.
“No, (we didn’t get to see the best of him),” agreed Foster. “Apparently he was on massive money as well.
“He never really took to the Premier League very well. It’s very difficult for these South American players to come over and hit the ground running.
“It never worked out for him. Obviously, a technically gifted player. But he just couldn’t cut it in the Premier League.”

One thing David Moyes has shown in his second spell at the London Stadium is that he has an eye for talent, and one that not many others spot.
But as soon as he saw Anderson, he was out of the exit door in next to no time and leaving for Serie A on loan.
Therefore, making his move permanent this summer wasn’t a surprise because it was never going to work out for the player.
Anderson’s build-up play was lively, without any real threat to cause opposition problems and a serious lack of end product, so the right call has been made for all parties here.
