The Hornets took on QPR in pre-season last weekend and won 1-0 at Loftus Road.
Watford full-back Adam Masina has praised Queens Park Rangers following the two sides’ pre-season friendly last weekend, believing that the R’s – who lost to the Hornets in the FA Cup fifth round last term – can have a good Championship season (official Watford website).
Etienne Capoue’s deflected effort on the half-hour mark was enough to give the Hornets victory at Loftus Road as QPR wrapped up their pre-season friendly programme before next Saturday’s opening game against Stoke City.
Mark Warburton’s charges put in a spirited display against the FA Cup finalists, with the likes of Bright Osayi-Samuel, Luke Amos and Olamide Shodipo all coming close for QPR, who kick off their Championship campaign at 3pm next Saturday at the Bet365 Stadium.
Masina, an Italy Under-21s international, told the official Watford website: “They are a very good team, they made a great performance against us and they can have a good season. It was a typical English game against English players and we needed this. It was great practise for us and will really help us be ready for the first match of the season.”
QPR appointed former Rangers boss Warburton back in May (BBC Sport) as the replacement for Steve McClaren, who was sacked two months earlier.
The R’s will be hoping for a much improved campaign this time round after finishing 19th in the Championship table last season as they seek to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2015.
