Watford are reportedly in talks to sign France Under 19 midfielder Pape Gueye but should try for West Ham United star Edimilson Fernandes instead.

Watford and West Ham have been linked with a host of arrivals and departures this summer as Javi Garcia and Manuel Pellegrini look to put their own stamp on their respective clubs.
But that could mean a bit of business being done between Watford and West Ham if the Hornets want to use their money wisely.
According to French media outlet L’Equipe and reported by Get Football News France, Watford are in talks to sign France Under 19 midfielder Pape Gueye.

L’Equipe claims the 19-year-old’s representatives are currently in discussions with Watford, despite the fact that Gueye played just once last season for his club Le Havre.
No fee is mentioned in the report but the Hornets would be better off spending their money more wisely to try and sign impressive young Swiss midfielder Edimilson Fernandes from West Ham.
A similar player to Gueye, the young Swiss narrowly missed out on his country’s World Cup squad and is a firm favourite among Hammers fans.

But he faces an uncertain future with a lack of game time already an issue before the arrival of new boss Manuel Pellegrini who plans to bring in as many as seven new signings.
Watford might be able to pick up Fernandes for around £10-12 million after being signed in 2016 for £5.5million by the Hammers.
But even at a higher price he would represent less of a risk for the Hornets having proved himself more than capable of performing on the Premier League stage for the Hammers who are looking to spend big this summer as they back Pellegrini with unprecedented funds, as co-owner David Gold told talkSPORT.
