Newcastle United fans are hoping to see the club’s takeover go through in the coming weeks, having seen the situation drag on and on.
The Magpies will have been hoping to have the deal done by now, but it hasn’t happened yet. The delay has been frustrating, and may now lose a player.
Sky Sports claim that talks with Matty Longstaff have reached an impasse, with the current Magpies regime unable to convince him to stay put.
The midfielder’s contract expires this summer. Newcastle have offered him a long-term deal on £15,000-a-week, but Longstaff has a better offer on the table.
Udinese have allegedly offered him a bumper deal worth £30,000-a-week, and with Newcastle yet to improve their offer, he looks set to go.
The 20-year-old has come up through the Newcastle ranks, and managed to break into the first team this season. He even bagged two league goals, both coming against Manchester United.
Longstaff may now head over to Italy, but there’s a conspiracy theory emerging. Some believe that Longstaff may actually head to Watford, and that this is all a big Giampaolo Pozzo plot.

Pozzo owns Udinese too, and has moved players freely between them over the years. Udinese would only have to pay £400,000 in compensation for Longstaff, much more than the figure Watford would have to pay.
Yet if Udinese sign him and then move him to sister club Watford, Pozzo can circumvent the compensation issues, leaving Newcastle out of pocket.
Watford fans have been taking to Twitter to react to Longstaff’s move, believing that he will ultimately end up at Vicarage Road whilst praising Pozzo as a genius if he pulls such a move off.
