Watford fans react to Will Hughes’s performance on Twitter

Watford were beaten 3-2 by their Championship outfit Bristol City.

Will Hughes was handed his first start for Watford on Tuesday night in their Carabao Cup defeat to Bristol City.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Hornets this summer on a five-year deal, grabbed an assist as his new team lost 3-2.

Marco Silva, the Watford manager, was pleased with Hughes’ performance but admitted that the former Derby County midfielder needs time to adapt to his new club.

Hughes wasn’t spectacular throughout the match, but played a fine one-two with Isaac Success and crossed for Etienne Capoue for Watford’s opening goal.

Overall, he endured a frustrating time on the pitch, and apart from the assist for the first goal didn’t really make a strong impression.

He was slow on the ball, and some of his tricks rarely came off. He looked off the pace before the break, but played with confidence as the game progressed.
