Wednesday’s Premier League clash yielded six first-half goals, and some Hornets fans called on the club to bolster the team’s defence.

Watford played out an emphatic 3-3 draw at Bournemouth on Wednesday night which kept Javi Gracia’s side eighth in the Premier League table.
Hornets captain Troy Deeney weighed in with a quickfire brace early on in the game, a header from Ken Sema’s cross on 14 minutes and a loft over Asmir Begovic on 27 minutes.
However, Bournemouth levelled within three-first half minutes, Nathan Ake nodding home on the rebound and Callum Wilson looping in a header, both goals aided by Ryan Fraser’s free kicks.
The first half would yield two more goals, Sema on the half-volley for the visitors and Cherries man Fraser with a composed finish for a half-time score of 3-3.
There would be no further goals in the second half, but the opening 45 minutes alone were enough to leave some Watford fans concerned about their defence.
With 31 goals shipped so far this campaign, all does not seem well at the back for the Hornets and, at full time, there were murmurs on Twitter regarding the need to bolster the back line:
With Deeney admitting after the game (BBC Sport) that both sides were guilty of “Sunday League” defending, it looks as though the concerns at the back aren’t shared by just the fans.
Looks like the transfer window has opened at the right time for Watford – could there be some defensive incomings and outgoings over the coming weeks?
