There were once high hopes that Jack Wilshere and Tom Cleverley might guide England to glory.
England’s Jack Wilshere warms up before the match
Yesterday saw Watford linked with the signature of Arsenal crock Jack Wilshere. The Sun reported that the Hornets are hoping to sign the player, who has been on loan at Bournemouth this season, in the summer.
The move would bring him closer to his Stevenage home and would undoubtedly be a bold one from Watford.
The club are also hoping to tie up a permanent deal for Everton loanee Tom Cleverley in the summer and pairing the two together at Vicarage Road would certainly raise expectations.

The duo were once considered the next stars of English football. Less than five years ago with Wilshere fit and firing at Arsenal and Cleverley coming through at Manchester United the pair were looking like dragging England into the tiki-taka era.
But both have seen their careers stall, for differing reasons, and are now far from being the England stars fans wanted.
But Watford will be hoping they can pair the two up and see them click much as many hoped they might.
