Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Watford star Richarlison.
Watford chief executive Scott Duxbury has told the London Evening Standard that they have no intention of selling Tottenham Hotspur target Richarlison.
The Hornets swooped to land the Brazilian from Fluminense over the summer, having seen him hit 19 goals in 67 games for the Brazilian side.
After also notching nine goals in 24 games for Atletico Mineiro, Richarlison had built up a strong reputation in his native Brazil, but few expected him to make an instant impact in the Premier League, given the patchy record of South Americans heading straight to English football.
However, Richarlison has bucked that trend with Watford, racking up five goals and three assists in just 13 games for the Hornets, starring on the left wing for Marco Silva’s side.
At just 20, Richarlison’s immediate impact in the Premier League has been astonishing, and his exploits haven’t gone unnoticed by Premier League rivals.
The London Evening Standard report that Tottenham Hotspur are keen to land Richarlison, and may be ready to offer up either Josh Onomah or Georges-Kevin Nkoudou in part-exchange to seal a deal.
Spurs are surely not the only major Premier League club keeping tabs on Richarlison, but Watford are ready to fight to keep their new sensation at Vicarage Road.
Now, Watford chief executive Scott Duxbury has told the London Evening Standard that the club have no intention of selling Richarlison, especially in January, and want to keep him for many years – suggesting Spurs may need to look elsewhere.
“We want Richarlison to be here for many more seasons,” said Duxbury. “We are building a very competitive squad, we have no need to sell. We believe in the season being a race and that’s why we will never sell a player in January who we believe will help us. Nobody will be sold that we don’t want to. None of the players making an impact now will go,” he added.
