There’s “great interest” in reported Watford, Swansea City and Middlesbrough target Sory Kaba with Midtjylland demanding a fee in excess of £2 million, the Danish club’s president Claus Steinlein has told TV3, via TipsBladet.
While there has been plenty of debate about the future of Jens Cajuste in recent weeks, the Sweden international isn’t the only member of Bo Henriksen’s squad conspicuous by his absence in the first few weeks of 2021/22.
The £13 million-rated Cajuste, having emerged as Marcelo Bielsa’s number one midfield target at Leeds United, was nowhere to be seen as Midtjylland knocked Celtic out of the Champions League at the qualification stage last week.
Kaba, however, could be an even bigger loss for the Danish club.
Like Cajuste, the Guinea-Bissau striker has yet to play a single minute of football this season, left out of Henriksen’s plans amid interest from Premier League newcomers Watford plus Championship pair Swansea and Middlesbrough (Telegraph).

“We’ll see what happens in this transfer window. There is great interest in (Kaba),” Steinlein says of a man who scored 14 goals last term.
“There is a shortage of strikers around Europe.
“He will not be sold (for less than the £1.8 million we paid for him). He is worth a lot more than that.”
With the new Championship season just days away, a Swansea side now under the stewardship of former MK Dons boss Russell Martin have yet to replace departed talisman Andre Ayew, with Joel Piroe (aged 21) and Kyle Joseph (19) expected to face a season of adaptation in South Wales.
Watford, however, have reinforced an inconsistent front line with Josh King, Ashley Fletcher and the exciting Emmanuel Dennis.
However, there may still be a place in Xisco Munoz’s squad for a physical, 6ft 3in target man like Kaba.
