Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Watford winger.
Watford ace and Tottenham target Richarlison sat down for an exclusive interview with ESPN Brazil, admitting that fatigue has been behind his slump in form since the turn of the year, and his comments should surely serve as a warning to Spurs that he is not quite ready to make the switch to north London just yet.
According to the Sun, the Lilywhites are lining up a £30 million bid for the 20-year-old this summer, with Mauricio Pochettino thought to be a big fan of the Hornets star’s ability.
Richarlison moved to Vicarage Road from Brazilian side Fluminense in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £11.2 million, and he began his Watford career in superb fashion, scoring five goals in his first 12 Premier League outings.
The winger’s form has dropped dramatically since the end of last year, however, and he has not scored since November 19th.
Richarlison blamed fatigue for his recent slump, when speaking to reporters, as quoted by ESPN Brazil:
“Unfortunately the ball is not going in. I had two opportunities to put the ball in, unfortunately it didn’t want to. Now we continue, there’s been two and a half years that I don’t have vacations, so it’s normal that tiredness comes. I feel a little wear and tear. I’m still young, but I’m a human being, I get tired too. So it’s normal, I think the vacations are coming, I think it’s resting a lot now, next year I’ll come prepared and show more of my talent.”
Following the 20-year-old’s comments, Tottenham will surely be wary of signing him this summer, considering the fact that Mauricio Pochettino implements such a highly intense regime both during games and training.
The Watford ace possesses a lot of talent, that cannot be argued, but he might just need another season in the top flight before he is ready to move to one of the Premier League’s big boys.
