Tottenham Hotspur teenager Marcus Edwards pulled off something special for England Under-20s.

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been keeping a close eye on the progress of Marcus Edwards ever since manager Mauricio Pochettino compared him to Lionel Messi in an interview with Sky Sports in 2016.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has yet to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Harry Kane and Harry Winks by making his first-team breakthrough, with just a second-half League Cup cameo from last season to his name.

Edwards’ development at Spurs may not be happening at the speed that many had hoped for, but the teenager has continued to advance up the England youth setup and is now a member of Keith Downing’s Under-20s.
The world champions suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Germany on Tuesday evening, but Edwards produced an eye-catching piece of skill with this back-heel assist for Harvey Barnes’ consolation four minutes from time.
Pochettino more recently told the London Evening Standard that Edwards is not physically ready for first-team action. Based on this video, neither confidence nor technique will be an issue when the youngster does make the step up.
Edwards is a skilful creator and goalscorer – he has found the net seven times in 12 games for Tottenham’s Under-23s this term – and Spurs fans will hope to see his name on a senior teamsheet before the end of the season.
