Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Lucas Paqueta amid ongoing links to Arsenal.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for the Brazilian over the past week, and according to some reports, the north London club are favourites for his signature.
However, according to Romano, there isn’t much substance to these rumours.
Indeed, the journalist says that Paqueta is not a priority for Arsenal and that no bid has been made.
Although, it is worth mentioning that Romano stated that this is a player to keep an eye on right until the end of the summer transfer window as he dreams of a move to the Premier League.
What’s been said?
Romano spoke about Paqueta.
“At the moment there is no bid from Arsenal. His agent denied it because there is no bid from Arsenal for Lucas Paqueta. At the same point I would watch this player until the end of the window, because he dreams of Premier League football. His agents are working around Europe to find a solution for the player, so let’s see what happens with Paqueta,” Romano said.
“For Arsenal, they have many quality players right now, they signed Fabio Vieira who is a quality midfielder, they have Odegaard and Smith Rowe, many quality players, so I’m not sure that this is the priority.”

Luxury signing
Lucas Paqueta would be the definition of a luxury signing for Arsenal.
Indeed, although the Brazilian is a talented player, Arsenal really don’t need him right now.
Paqueta is at his best as an attacking midfielder, but, as Romano says, the Gunners already have Martin Odegaard, Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe in that position.
Of course, depth is important for any top side, but you have to say that adding Paqueta into this mix would be overkill, especially as there are other areas that need addressing right now.
The Gunners aren’t prioritising Paqueta, and that’s the right call.
