It has been an eventful few days for Argentina defender Marcos Senesi, to say the least.
The defender has become a leading Premier League player over the past few years, impressing in a brilliant Bournemouth team from Feyenoord.
Out of contract at the end of the Premier League season, the 29-year-old was linked with a host of top clubs and recently signed for Tottenham ahead of their rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi.
Not long after his move to the north London club was confirmed, life got even better for Senesi.
Indeed, an injury to Leonardo Balerdi has seen him called up to the Argentina squad for the 2026 World Cup and his reaction to the late call-up was brilliant.
Senesi’s brilliant reaction to World Cup call-up
The defender was seemingly on vacation with his partner following the end of a long club season but it’s tough to imagine Senesi being too upset with this slight interruption.
Senesi’s reaction to the call that every player no doubt dreams about was captured on social media.
His partner recorded the call and the video shows Senesi on the phone before the two celebrate emotionally in what looks like a hotel room.
Argentina, of course, are defending world champions after their success in Qatar in 2022.
The last team to defend the World Cup was Brazil, who won the tournament in 1958 and four years later in 1962. Previously, Italy have achieved that feat, lifting the World Cup in both 1934 and 1938.

Tottenham already have one World Cup-winning defender in their ranks in the form of Cristian Romero. If things play out like they did in Qatar only a few short years ago, they could soon have another.
Senesi has three caps for his country and last played for them in a friendly win against Mauritania back in March.
