Last night was not exactly filled with joyous news for Arsenal fans, with the confirmation that Robin Van Persie is to join Manchester United, but their newest signing will at least have given reason to stay optimistic.
Just earlier this month the club had wrapped up the excellent signing of Santi Cazorla from Malaga, who supporters hoped would underline their ambition in the transfer market.
While it seems Van Persie’s mind was already made up, his could-have-been teammate was busy doing what he does best, scoring from 25 yards out.
Spain were playing an international friendly away to Puerto Rico, and Cazorla opened the scoring in the 42nd minute.
Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas doubled their lead just before half-time three minutes later, and the match finished 2-1 to Spain.
